Hi, Warren!

I used to have a brocure on that Dutch machine, but tossed it a couple of years ago when I decided $5000 was a bit pricy for a 4' bush hog!!!!

I will contact my friend in Lexington and ask her for the brand/manufacturer name, model no., etc. She was very positive about them.

The little Postmaster does the job, but I think a proper bush hog with swing arm would be be better. Still, for the money, the Postmaster is not a bad deal.

I have a 14 foot batwing that I use to maintain approximately 100 acres of pasture. I pull it with a MF261. The model I have is one of the lightest mowers, but still takes a minimum of 50hp. The 261 goes off at about 55 hp. I can negotiate all the East TN hills I have but one without difficulty. That "one" requires some planning! :-)

I have a batwing (vice a wide non-articulated bushhog) due to the hills and creek banks that must be regularly mowed. The non-articulating units are much less expensive than the batwings.

IMO if you are mowing large areas the batwing is the way to go. It is DRAMATICALLY faster than the 8 footer I replaced and slopes are much easier to maintain.

The length of the combination is pretty dramatic, but could be safely pulled behind a one ton pickup.

Mark, I looked at the "4400 Lemon" thread. It is a sad situation and I would raise some serious Hell with the dealer and, if that did not work, make the folks at JD think that Beelezbub, hisself, had come to call!!! :-)

I found http://www.lemonlaw.bbb.org/ and this has links to the "lemon laws" in each state.

Hope the situation works out for the best.

I have had my 4310 for a week. Got 4WD, eHydro transmixer, industrial (R4?) tires, and a canopy. No FEL. Have used a 72" read discharge mower, box blade, 4' bush hog, and Swisher Postmaster (a MONDO KOOL pull-behind weed eater for keeping fence lines trimmed).

So far, so good on everything after 7 hours of use. The only "glitch" might be that the speed range handle is a bit stiff and sometimes does not move as smoothly as I thought it should.

Will report any problems that crop up!!!

I just looked at my new 4310 and noticed a whole bank of switches. All open to the elements.

A thought: Wally World sells a large variety of plastic boxes. Find one of the right size and invert it over the switches while parked. Kind of "Rube Goldberg" but should keep the rain off. Let the box rest at a slight angle and that should take care of most of the condensation. A short bungee cord should take care of the wind.

Kind of silly to do this an expensive tractor, but sometimes necessity IS the mother of invention! ;-)

In my lifetime I have both prosecuted and defended Snidely Whiplash (different phases though; not like Ned Ravine<g>). I don't always like my answers (and neither did my clients, officers, superiors, etc.). Still, better to be accurate than liked, I guess!<GGG>

Dudley Doright was always one of my favorites. My wife sometimes gets upset with me for watching Dudley, George of the Jungle, and Superchicken late nights on the Cartoon Channel.
